Mila celebrated her One Year Anniversary as a Painted Planet artist in April of 2015. The Hamburg, Germany resident designs vibrant, whimsical artwork, transporting viewers to magical, enchanted lands.
What is your earliest memory of being inspired to create art?
From early childhood on I loved textile patterns and my mum's fashion magazines.
Have you studied art formally?
I studied fashion design at university in Hamburg.
Huge table, lots of light, a radio and all sorts of paint, paper, pencils, scissors, glue and brushes in drawers and cans. There's also another table with my beloved computer, a graphic pad, a scanner and a large monitor. And on the floor there's a white, fluffy dog lying next to my feet!
How would you describe your signature style?
Colorful, bright, fashionable, cheerful
Which mediums do you work with?
I love painting in watercolor, acrylics and gouache, but I also enjoy working on the computer with my graphic pad. Lately I've been doing a combination.
Who is your go-to person for providing honest feedback on your work?
Depends on the type of artwork. In general, if I need advice I ask some art mates for feedback. But for children's stuff my sons' opinions are very important to me.
Always with music. I love indie music but sometimes I'm also into classical.
What is your favorite color?
All-time-favorite: turquoise … and all shades of pink! But they change from season to season.
If you were not an artist what would you do?
I would have also loved to become a physician... maybe a surgeon.
What are your hobbies (besides art)?
I love reading novels, cooking and baking, movies, (interior) architecture, botany, sewing and crafting.
What is your dream project?
A children's book :)
What are your goals for the future?
I just rediscovered the joy of designing textile patterns. I'd love to do more.
