A nurse for more than 15 years, Debra
changed careers in 1994 after moving to the East Coast. A favorite
George Eliot quote, “It is never too late to be what you might
have been.” is the impetus for Grogans ever evolving life.
In 1998 she began her own wholesale business selling her own folk
art products. By the third year she had gone from her family room
in her home to a building that housed her business and made room
for the nine employees that where now part of the operation.
Her popular folk art style with a” touch of whimsy”
was noticed by several companies who sought to employ Debra as a
licensed artist. Her designs have been sold across the globe.
Seeking to do more on the creative side than running her own company
allowed, Debra gave up her business to design full time.
Although she considers folk art her first love and her most notable
style, she has enjoyed the progression to watercolor style florals,
textile design and product development for which she is known today.
Debra lives in Michigan with her husband Brian and is looking forward
to her son Jeremy and daughter in law Carolann blessing her with
a first grandchild in February of 2008. |
