Decorative painting and
designing, as well as teaching decorative painting seminars, have
been a major part of Betty's life for the past 31 years. Her designs
include historical buildings and town scenes, nautical and harbor
scenes with a New England flavor, Christmas and seasonal designs,
and fruit and floral designs.
She started publishing her designs in 1988. In 1993 she issued
some limited edition prints, which were selected by a gallery in
Northern Virginia and featured in several shows. Subsequently she
has had her designs published in several magazines, been selected
as the number one designer/painter of decorative scenes by one of
the magazines, and been featured and published in Japanese magazines
and books. Most recently she was honored to be selected as the artist
to represent the state of Virginia in the Annual White House Easter
Egg gala and had her work displayed at the White House.
She has been married to her husband, Chris, for 40 years. After
his 24-year career in the U.S. Marine Corps, they moved to the foothills
of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. They enjoy being
close to their youngest son, daughter-in-law and two granddaughters.
They also have two grandsons living in Florida.
